Molecular microbiology involves learning and understanding molecular processes of cells and how they interact with organisms. Microbiology is concerned with

The Journal aims to reflect the developments in this field by publishing original research articles from all areas of molecular microbiology. The advantages of these molecular methods over traditional microbiology are discussed, along with the requirements and challenges faced during implementation in a routine clinical setting. Basic methods and molecular techniques are described, including the principle reactions of some assays of current interest for infectious diseases. Molecular biology is primarily focused on nucleic acids like DNA and RNA, their structure, composition, expression, and interactions among themselves. Molecular biology is slowly becoming an important area of research with the discovery that nucleic acids and other biomolecules play a vital role in the normal functioning of the body. Founded in 2001, the UW Molecular Microbiology laboratory provides real-time PCR and DNA sequence-based testing for hospitals and clinics from all over the world.

Research papers should lead to a deeper understanding of the molecular principles underlying basic physiological processes or mechanisms.

2017-01-01 · Many culture-independent molecular microbiology techniques have been developed in the past decades and introduced into oil and gas industry. These techniques are based on direct extraction of nucleic acids from environmental samples, thus overcoming the difficulties associated with the laboratory cultivation of microorganisms and providing a direct analysis of samples and insight into gene functions.

While molecular biology was established as an official branch of science in the 1930s, the term wasn't coined until 1938 by Warren Weaver. At the time, Weaver was the director of Natural Sciences for the Rockefeller Foundation and believed that biology was about to undergo significant change due to recent advancements in technology such as X-ray crystallography. Molecular Microbiology. The research in the department of Molecular Microbiology aims at understanding protein export, solute transport and cell division in micro-organisms. All these processes take place at the cytoplasmic membrane of micro-organisms, and membrane biology is where our department excels.

Prokaryotes contain short DN repeats known as CRISPR, recognizable by the regular spacing existing between the recurring units. They represent the most widely distributed family of repeats among prokaryotic genomes suggesting a biological function. The origin of the intervening sequences, at present …
